The top two seeds prevailed on night one of the Egyptian-Illini Conference baseball tournament as top seed Brownstown-St. Elmo and 2nd seeded Mulberry Grove both picked up wins. In Game One, Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st but BSE countered with two runs after Landon Feezel hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the inning. The Bombers would tack on two more runs in the 2nd for a 4-1 lead. The Eagles would score two more in the 5th on a 2-RBI single by Austin Rexroad to cut the lead to 4-3. BSE would then close out the scoring with one more run and the 5-3 win.
In the second game of the night, Mulberry Grove used an 8-run second inning to stake themselves an 8-3 lead after two innings over Ramsey. The Rams cut the lead to 8-6 after top of the 3rd nut the Aces would increase their lead to 10-6 after the third and add on 5 in the 4th for a 15-7 lead. After a leadoff walk and a single to start the bottom of the 5th, a 2-RBI single by Dawson Enloe would end the game by way of the 10-run rule in 5 innings.
The round robin tournament will now continue tonight with two more games as the 4:15 game will feature Brownstown-St. Elmo facing off with Ramsey and Mulberry Grove taking on Beecher City-Cowden/Herrick in the nightcap.
