The question of a possible consolidation between the Brownstown and St. Elmo school districts will not be on the March 2016 ballot. Petitions to get the question on the ballot were to be turned into the Regional Office of Education by the end of last week, however petitions were not filed. In a statement released by Brownstown Superintendent Adam Bussard and St. Elmo Superintendent Deb Philpot it states “Petitions were not filed last week regarding placing the Consolidation of Brownstown CUSD #201 and St. Elmo CUSD #202 question on the March 2015 ballot. As the timeline to file for the March 2015 election has passed, the Committee of Ten is still moving forward in an effort to meet the requirements of filing a petition for an upcoming election. The Committee is scheduled to meet next on October 7th.” The Committee of Ten will have a new set of deadlines to meet once it is decided upon which election date after March 2016 that they would seek to have the question put on the ballot.
