(Washington, DC) — Darrin LaHood took the oath of office this morning to become the U.S. Representative from Illinois‘ eighteenth district, replacing Aaron Schock. LaHood won a special election to succeed Schock, who resigned amid questions about his finances. LaHood’s swearing-in creates another vacancy, since as of today, he resigned his seat in the Illinois State Senate. Republican party leaders will choose a replacement.
