(Washington, DC) — Senator Dick Durbin thinks the U.S. should accept 100-thousand Syrian refugees. During a speech on the Senate floor today, Durbin said the U.S. has a rich history of responding to crises like this. He cited examples of the U.S. welcoming refugees from Cuba, Somalia, and Boznia-Herzegovina as well as the Hmong from Vietnam and Soviet Jews. Durbin visited with four Syrian refugee families in Chicago last week.
