(Chicago, IL) — The United States Chamber of Commerce is citing a survey to claim Illinois has one of the worst lawsuit climates in the country. The chamber bases the claim on an Institute for Legal Reform poll, and says only Louisiana and West Virginia are worse. The survey indicates three-quarters of company attorneys surveyed said the state’s lawsuit environment is likely to impact whether they would locate or expand in Illinois. Governor Bruce Rauner attended a news conference on Thursday in Chicago for the unveiling of the survey and said the nasty lawsuit climate is hurting Illinois‘ ability to create and retain jobs.
