David W. Brown, 82, of Vandalia passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at his home in Vandalia.
Services for Mr. Brown will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church of Vandalia with Rev. Kurt Simon and Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until time of service. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with military rites accorded by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95, Vandalia, IL and Brownstown VFW Post #9770. Memorials may be made to Fayette County Health Dept. Hospice or First Presbyterian Church of Vandalia. Arrangements by Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia.
David was born September 25, 1932, in Aurora, IL the son of L. Harold Brown and Bernice (Towle) Herman. David was primarily raised in the Harrisburg area, where he met and married his wife Betty J. (Fulkerson) Brown on November 11, 1952. David and Betty moved to the Vandalia area for convenience reasons, for was near the center of David’s territory as a boot and shoe sales representative for BB Walker Shoe Company of North Carolina. David was a US Air Force Veteran, member of First Presbyterian Church of Vandalia, Crawford-Hale American Legion Post # 95, Vandalia, IL and Brownstown VFW Post #9770.
He is survived by his wife Betty Brown of Vandalia; daughters Cindy and husband Randy Woolsey of Patoka, Beth and husband Larry Redman of Fillmore, and Kathy Draege of Vandalia and the late Tony Draege; grandchildren Sara (Tom) Doyle, Tony (Ashlee) Woolsey, Lucas (Joanna) Redman, Zach (Chrissy) Redman, Blaine (Robyn) Redman, Alex (Tori) Redman, Brian (Tara) Tritt, Emalie (Shannon) Babb, Michael (Brandi) Meyer, Aaron Draege, Jake (Emily) Draege, and Colton Draege; and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Towle Brown, and son-in-law Tony Draege.
