(Washington, DC) — Today is the 14th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks. Nearly three-thousand people died when four hijacked airliners crashed into the World Trade Center complex, the Pentagon and in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. President Obama will lead a moment of silence on the South Lawn of the White House this morning. Commemoration events will also be held at Ground Zero in New York and at the Flight 93 National Memorial near Shanksville. Defense Secretary Ash Carter will speak during a ceremony at the Pentagon.
