Dolores E. Voelker, 83, of Rural St. Elmo, died at 12:43 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 14, 2015 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Rev. Clayton Vail officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of the donors’ choice.
Dolores was born on Sunday, November 1, 1931 in rural Fayette County, IL to Walter and Ida (Dippold) Kruenegel. She married Virgil E. Voelker on December 23, 1950 at St. Peter Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death on January 7, 2010. She was a Registered Nurse and worked in home health care and owned and operated the Voelker Home for Seniors for many years. She assisted on the family farm and enjoyed Holiday parades with horse and pony carts. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and was active with the LWML and was a former longtime member of the Bethlehem Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Back Country Horsmen, Effingham County Farm Bureau and a past member of the Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post 7676 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by; her son, Jerry (Cathi) Voelker of Altamont; her daughter, Dawn (Eric Henry) Reeves of Mexico, MO; brother, Richard (Louise) Kruenegel of Vandalia and Eugene Kruenegel of Vandalia; sisters, Iris Caines of Bloomington and Eunice Schaffer of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Jamie, Travis, Seth, Dessie, Gary Dale, and William; and several great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, sons, Kenneth Virgil Voelker in infancy and William Voelker, and grandson Derek.
