Although it’s been pretty dry lately in many parts of the state, this summer ended up being the 6th wettest summer on record in Illinois. State Climatologist Jim Angel says plenty of rain during the first part of the summer pushed us up into the rankings.
This June ended up being the wettest ever in Illinois, but August lagged behind with just under 3 inches of rain. Angel says forecasters are calling for a warmer and wetter September than usual.
