The election season is officially underway. In information from Fayette County Clerk Vicky Conder, it states that candidates interested in running for county offices to be nominated or elected in the March 15, 2016 general primary election may now receive petitions from the Fayette County Clerk’s office. The petition circulating time officially got started on September 1st and the filing period for submitting completed nomination papers and petitions for county offices will be from Monday, November 23rd to Monday, November 30th. County offices to be nominated in the March 15th primary election include State’s Attorney, Circuit Clerk, and Coroner as well as 8 of the 14 county board seats in all seven county board districts. In addition, Democrat and Republican precinct committee representatives will be elected at the general primary, and petitions will also be filed for those candidates at the county clerk’s office. Also, the March 15th primary will also nominate the federal offices of President, U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative in the 15th district, the two year unexpired term of State Comptroller and the 107th district State Representative.
