(Springfield, IL) — Governor Rauner is saying thanks to the members of the Illinois House who voted against overriding his veto this week of a union arbitration bill. Rauner released a statement saying it is encouraging that many legislators recognized the negative financial impact the measure would have had on the state. The House fell three short of the votes needed to override the veto. The bill would have allowed contract talks between the state and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees to be decided by an arbitrator.
