As Police beef up patrols for the Labor Day weekend, officers say drunk and distracted driving are two of the biggest problems that lead to crashes. Last year in Illinois, 16 people were killed over the Labor Day holiday and three of those were alcohol related. Illinois State Police Lieutenant Darrin Clark says distracted driving is also becoming a big factor in car crashes.
State and local police will have extra personnel out on the roads, saturation patrols and roadside safety checks thru the Labor Day weekend.
