One inning provided all the offense Brownstown-St. Elmo would need as they get a 13-5 conference win over Mulberry Grove. In a matchup that pitted last year’s regular season Egyptian Illini Conference against last year’s EI tournament champs, the Aces got out to an early one run lead after the first. BSE would use a leadoff double by Cole Horner and a big two-out rally in the top of the 3rd to push 8 runs across and take a 8-1 lead. Mulberry Grove plated two runs in the bottom of the 3rd and two more in the 5th but couldn’t the close the gap any further as they fall to the Bombers. Looking at the win, Bombers Coach Ryan Beccue said his guys were able to really start hitting the ball well in their game Monday and that led to more confidence at the plate coming into Wednesday’s game.
Senior Noah Flowers went the distance for the Bombers scattering 6 hits and 5 runs across his complete game pitched. Cole Horner had two doubles and Landon Feezel and Nate Philpot each had two hits to lead the BSE hitters. For Mulberry Grove, Jake Linnabary and Michael Sloan each had two hits apiece. Brownstown-St. Elmo is now 2-3 on the season and will be back in action Friday at home against St. Anthony. Mulberry Grove is now 2-2 and will play at home today against T-Town.
