(Springfield, IL) — Because of the budget impasse, the Illinois State Museum and its four satellite sites are being targeted for closure by Governor Rauner. He says Democrats have forced his hand by not agreeing to the reforms he’s insisting on as part of a budget. The move would mean layoffs for 65 people and the temporary loss of a destination for school trips, history buffs and scientific researchers.
