(St.Louis, MO) — The Cardinals scored five runs in the seventh inning to power them to an 8-5 victory over the Nationals at Busch Stadium. Kolten Wong and Jason Heyward each went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Jhonny Peralta and Stephen Piscotty both added an RBI single in the Cards’ third win in-a-row and eighth in nine games. Kevin Siegrist improved to 6-and-1 in relief of John Lackey. Trevor Rosenthal closed it out for his 42nd save.

(Chicago, IL) — The Reds scored six runs in the ninth inning of a 13-6 rout of the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Addison Russell homered and knocked in three, while Dexter Fowler also went deep for the Cubs, who have dropped five of six since a six-game winning streak. Justin Grimm took the loss. The second of the three-game series is tonight.
