You may have recently seen some stories about area communities—Effingham and Greenville among them—that had their applications for Enterprise Zones denied. But, the City of Vandalia was not among that recent issue. City of Vandalia Executive Secretary LaTisha Paslay says the City of Vandlaia’s Enterprise Zone does not expire until December 2018. And, Paslay says they will begin planning their renewal application next spring. In all, the state of Illinois had 66 applicants for Enterprise Zones this year and only 49 were approved by the state. An Enterprise Zone is an economic development tool to help attract businesses to communities, providing up to 7 years of property tax abatement.
