(Chicago, IL) — A federal appeals court said today there’s no reason to delay the new sentencing hearing for imprisoned former Governor Rod Blagojevich while he proceeds with an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. Last month, an appellate court panel threw out five of the 18 corruption counts on which Blagojevich was convicted. That prompted the need for a re-sentencing, but Blagojevich’s attorneys asked the court to hold off until the Supreme Court rules on their petition. The court today refused to delay the re-sentencing, but it’s not clear when that will take place.
