Roy B. Feldkamp, 79, of Altamont, died at 6:57 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2015 at New Hope Church with Rev. Van Brooks and Jim Watts officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in St. Elmo with military rites by Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post 7676 of Altamont. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Memorials may be made to the New Hope Building Fund or The Cross Foundation both of Effingham.
Roy was born on Thursday, September 5, 1935 in Teutopolis to Emil and Carrie (Heuerman) Feldkamp. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He married JoAnn Evans on Saturday, May 12, 1957 in St. Elmo and she survives. For 40 years he owned and operated Altamont Repair Service. He was a member and elder at New Hope Church, Effingham. He was a 19 year member of the Altamont Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the Lakeland Agricultural Advisory Board. He was a 4-H Tractor School instructor. He volunteered at The Cross, Effingham, Meals-on-Wheels, Altamont and with mission work in Haiti.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, JoAnn Feldkamp of Altamont; his sons, David (wife Tara) of Pembroke, GA and Darren (wife Karen) of Mason; his daughter, Diana (husband Terry) Harlow of O’Fallon, MO; his grandchildren, Joshua and Caleb Feldkamp of Pembroke, GA, Kyle, Katelyn, and Sydney Feldkamp of Mason, Taylor (Noah) Gilliam of Oceanside, CA, Tanner, Trenton, Tessa and Tiana Harlow of O’Fallon, MO; his brothers, Danny (wife LeeAnn) Feldkamp of Tarpon Springs, FL, Steve Feldkamp of Terre Haute, IN; his sisters, Carol (husband Carl) Millsap of Savoy, IL, Jane Vaught of Champaign, and Nancy (husband Harve) Savage of Eldorado.
Roy was preceded in death by: his parents, son, Randy, brother, Ted Feldkamp, sister-in-law, Joyce Feldkamp and his mother and father-in-law, Willard and Marguerite Evans.
