Three electrical workers were injured in an accident onThursday afternoon leaving a majority of St. Elmo residents without power for about two hours. Workers from PAR Electrical Contractors were doing contractwork for Ameren Illinois in the area of 3rd and Girard Streets in St.Elmo as part of a project to change line out between St. Elmo and Altamont.Workers were pulling electrical line Thursday afternoon around 4pm when contact was made with a hot wire. Two workers injured in the accident were transportedto St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham while another was airlifted to anotherhospital in the region. Power was restored to residents shortly after 6pm. Marcelyn Love of Ameren Illinois confirmed the accident and the company contracted to do the work while also stating that the incident is under investigation.
