A Bluff City home was damaged by fire on Monday afternoon. Vandalia Fire Chief Keith Meadows says they received the call on Monday afternoon a little before 5 pm. And, Meadows says while they were enroute to the fire, they were told of an explosion being heard. Meadow says, once on the scene, they found the blaze was in the basement and they were able to get smoke cleared and locate the source and put out the fire. Chief Meadows says the fire was confined to a corner of the basement. Meadows says the home, which is owned by Scott Washburn, sustained mostly smoke and water damage. Chief Meadows says they were on the scene for about 80 minutes. Chief Meadows says there were about 15 Vandalia firefighters on the scene and joined with mutual aid from about 10 Brownstown fire fighters.
