(St. Louis, MO) — Randal Grichuk belted a two-run home run to help the Cardinals beat the Braves, 4-2, at Busch Stadium. It was Grichuk’s fourth homer in the last six games. Jhonny Peralta and Mark Reynolds both added an RBI-single in the victory. Tim Cooney tossed seven innings of two-run ball to earn his first Major League win and Kevin Siegrist picked up the save. St. Louis improved to an MLB-best 62-and-34 with its sixth win in seven games. Manny Banuelos gave up all four runs in five-plus innings to slip to 1-and-2 for Atlanta, which has dropped nine of 12. Cameron Maybin doubled in a run and scored on a wild pitch in defeat.
