(Chicago, IL) — Another judge is forcing the state to pay up despite having no budget in place. “The Chicago Tribune” reports a federal judge ordered that the state must reimburse Cook County hospitals for their Medicaid-eligible expenses, even without a spending plan approved. The order was in response to a petition filed by the Shriver Center who argued that withholding the money could force providers to shut down or limit care.
