(Macon Co., IL) — Health officials in Macon County are urging people to take precautions after a collection of mosquitoes were found to have the West Nile Virus. The Health Department confirms that 19-mosquito batches tested positive for the disease. Officials say the increase in cases is due to abundant rainfall, heat, and a history of West Nile Virus transmitters in Macon County.
