(Springfield, IL) — Illinois Senate Democrats have unveiled their version of a property tax freeze. Their version calls for a two-year freeze to give lawmakers time to pursue changes in how schools are funded at the local level and how the state distributes its education funds. Republican lawmakers didn’t reject the plan out of hand, but said the issue requires more discussion and examination.
