(Springfield, IL) — Combat veterans returning from active duty will qualify for free license plans under a bill signed by Governor Rauner. The new law takes effect in January of 2017, and will mean free plates for a year to vets who faces hostile fire within a year before their application. The measure, sponsored by Senator Neil Anderson of Rock Island, was approved unanimously in both chambers and signed Friday by Governor Rauner.
