(Pittsburgh, PA) — Gregory Polanco singled in the winning run to cap a three-run bottom of the 10th as the Pirates rallied to beat the Cardinals 6-5 in Pittsburgh. Randal Grichuk’s two-run double in the top half had given St. Louis a 5-3 lead. Jhonny Peralta went 3-for-4 with a homer for the Cardinals. All-Star closer Trevor Rosenthal took the loss.

(Pittsburgh, PA) — Despite losing three straight in Pittsburgh, the Cardinals still enter the All-Star break with baseball’s best record at 56-and-33. St. Louis leads the Pirates by two-and-a-half games and the Cubs by eight in the National League Central. The Cardinals begin the second half of the season Friday at home against the Mets.

(Chicago, IL) — Jake Arrieta fired a two-hitter as the Cubs beat the White Sox 3-1 at Wrigley Field. He struck out nine and walked none to improve to 10-and-5 on the season. Arrieta also homered for the Cubs, who avoided a three-game sweep to finish the first half of the season 47-and-40. The Cubs open the second half Friday at Atlanta.
