The Fayette County Fair is set to begin a full week run on Sunday. But, there will be a few changes due to the loss of state funding this year. All of the Grandstand events will go on as scheduled, starting with the band “Blend” performing on Sunday night at 7 pm. Also, all Junior Shows will remain the same as scheduled in the fair book without any changes and the Open Shows J thru O will remain the same. There will be changes for the Open Show Beef, Swine and Sheep as each of these classes will be a Jackpot Show, a $25 stall/entry fee for each animal brought, and champion payout will remain the same due to it being donated by the sponsors. Also, the Open Western Horse Shows scheduled for Sunday are canceled, the Open Dairy Show scheduled for July 18th has been canceled and the Team Pinning will be held as scheduled on July 17th. The changes come after announcements by Governor Bruce Rauner earlier this month that there would be suspension of funding for county fair prizes with no new state budget agreement.
