(Chicago, IL) — Former Governor George Ryan, whose moratorium on the death penalty set the stage for its abolition in Illinois, has formed a group to oppose executions elsewhere. Ryan addressed a group of death penalty opponents in St. Louis last month and plans a speech to Florida public defenders in September. .
