(Chicago, IL) — The state can continue to spend money on child protection services even without a state budget in place. U.S. District Court Judge Jorge Alonso ruled yesterday that the state can still fund programs, services, and personnel within the DCFS. The issue was brought to court by the ACLU because of a consent decree which requires the State to provide constitutionally-required services to at-risk children.
