The State of Illinois is still operating without a budget after a temporary budget plan to get the state thru the next month failed in the House on Wednesday. The bill fell just a few votes short in the House, but the Senate easily OK’ed an identical funding measure to keep core state services like the State Police and Medicaid running. Passage of the bill wasn’t without opposition though. State Senator Matt Murphy argued that this isn’t a solution.
The House is scheduled to be back in session next week and could vote on the Senate’s temporary budget bill. Governor Bruce Rauner has said the plan is unbalanced and unconstitutional.
