(Chicago, IL) — Thousands of state prisoners are suing the Illinois Department of Corrections over the use of solitary confinement. The lawsuit filed yesterday morning in Chicago federal court accuses IDOC of overusing and misusing solitary confinement in Illinois prisons. The suit claims there are 25-hundred prisoners in solitary confinement at any given time, some for only minor infractions.
