This is shaping up to be the 5th wettest month on record in Illinois. State Climatologist Jim Angel says statewide average rainfall for June is more than 7 inches so far. That puts June in the number five spot for precipitation, and Angel says at the rate we’re going that ranking could move up a bit.
Angel says there has been some flooding in smaller streams and rivers around the state and larger rivers are also starting to hit flood stage around the state, as well.
