Congressman John Shimkus will be very busy in Washington today as he will manage the floor debate in the House on two bills that he is the sponsor. Shimkus, who made a stop in Vandalia on Monday, says this is the suspension calendar and the bills that come up are supposed to be non-controversial and he says often they aren’t all that big of a deal. But, he says these bills today are important. One bill is a re-write of the 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act. And, Shimkus says the original bill hasn’t worked out so well.
The other bill is the Domain Openness thru Continued Oversight Matters, or the DOTCOM Act of 2015.
Shimkus is the sponsor of both bills out of the Energy and Commerce Committee and will managed the floor debate today. We will talk more with Congressman Shimkus coming up tomorrow during NewsCenter.
