Phillip L. Wells, 62, of Brownstown, died at 1:20 a.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Brownstown Community High School with Kevin Bonifacius and Tom Fedrigon officiating. Burial will follow at Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown with Fireman Funeral Honors provided by MABAS and the Brownstown Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 19th at Brownstown Community High School. Memorials may be made to the donors’ choice. Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Phil was born on Wednesday, December 17, 1952 in Brownstown to Howard C. and J. Lucille (Thrasher) Wells. He married Evelyn L. Enlow on Saturday, June 29, 1996 at the First Christian Church, Brownstown. He was employed with Petco Petroleum in St. Elmo as a foreman. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Brownstown. He retired from the Brownstown Fire Department after 36 years of service and had held various offices including fire chief.
Phil is survived by: his wife, Evelyn of Brownstown; sons, Brian Wells and Bruce (Chelsey Forson) Wells all of Brownstown; granddaughter, Morgan Wells of Brownstown; grandson, Chris Wells of Brownstown; mother, Lucille Wells of Brownstown; brother, David Wells and his wife Robin of Brownstown; brother-in-law, Lynn Piper of Brownstown.
He was preceded in death by: his father; his sister, Lu Ann Piper; and a brother in infancy.
