Heavy precipitation around the state hampered field progress as we hear in the weekly statewide crop report. All parts of the state received about an inch more rain than normal this past week, increase average statewide topsoil moisture to one percent short, 59 percent adequate and 40 percent surplus. State Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener says that didn’t leave much time for fieldwork.
Wheat harvest is underway in Illinois, with one percent complete so far.
