Labor peace will continue for another three years between the Vandalia School District and the teachers union. At a special meeting last night, the Vandalia School District announced the Board of Education and the Vandalia United Teachers Association have agreed to a three year contract for the 2015-16, 2016-17, and 2017-18 school years. The salary schedule in the new agreement will add 1% to the base salary and they will continue to use the current salary schedule structure for each school year. Among the items in the language that were changed are 1. A $25 per month increase for those taking district health insurance for the current school year only—no new monies will be added to the insurance component for the new two years. 2. clarification of daily works and 3. clarification on grade levels for each building. And, the news release adds the Board of Education and the VUTA has agreed to this contract in consideration of the district financial situation.
