(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner’s appointed state comptroller is warning of dire consequences if Democrats in the legislature don’t approve pieces of Rauner’s turnaround agenda by the end of June. Rauner says he won’t consider new revenue to balance the budget unless reform comes first and Leslie Munger says spending will stop if there’s no budget by the end of the month. She says state workers will start missing paychecks July 15 and state vendors will stop receiving payments.
