The Flood Warning remains for the Kaskaskia River in Vandalia. But, the good news is the river is now coming down. The National Weather Service says the Kaskaskia River in Vandalia crested Wednesday morning at 23.74 feet and was down to 22.1 feet as of Wednesday evening—which is still well above the river’s 18 foot flood stage. The river is now expected to drop to 19.3 feet during the day today and fall below flood stage Friday morning. Meanwhile, thunderstorms come back into the forecast for Friday and the chance of storms will be with us everyday thru at least the middle of next week.
