The Vandalia Police Department has dealt with multiple reports this week of counterfeit money. But, it looks like these may have no relation to the recent local issue with fake money. The first report this week was from KFC/Taco Bell and Vandalia Police Chief Jeff Ray says the individual that passed the counterfeit bill there was from an individual that had gotten the fake money as change in Indiana. On Tuesday there were reports from both Burger King and Circle K of counterfeit money. Chief Ray says the individual at Burger King had driven from Oklahoma and wasn’t sure where they got the bad cash. Chief Ray says he believes Vandalia businesses are doing a good job of checking the cash and may just be catching more counterfeit money, as he says a couple of those caught were 5 dollar bills when many times businesses don’t check that small of a denomination.
