(Chicago, IL) — Former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert is fighting the charges handed down following allegations he violated bank laws and lied to the FBI about it. Hastert entered a not guilty plea yesterday in Chicago federal court. He’s accused of trying to hide three-and-a-half-million dollars in withdrawals intended as hush money to hide alleged past sexual misconduct with a male student. The judge set Hastert’s bond at 45-hundred dollars and said he must surrender his passport.
