A pretty dry week last week let farmers make some good progress in the fields as we hear in the weekly crop report. The week was cooler and drier than average, leaving about five days suitable for fieldwork. All corn is now in the ground says State Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener.
88 percent of soybeans have now been planted with 77 percent emerged. The Sunday night rains boosted topsoil moisture averages around the state, which now stand at 2 percent short, 72 percent adequate and 26 percent surplus.
