A bill passed by Illinois lawmakers gives some repeat drunk drivers a break. Typically, a driver who racks up four DUI’s loses their license for good. But, legislation sponsored by State Senator John Mulroe lets those who meet certain conditions apply for a restricted driving permit.
The permit would be good only to get to and from work or school and the driver’s car would have to be fitted with a breath-alcohol testing device. This will still needs to be signed into law by the Governor.
