(Springfield, IL) — Birds brought in from outside Illinois aren’t going to be allowed for in-state competitions this year. The Illinois Department of Agriculture’s announcement means the birds won’t be allowed in this year’s county fairs, FFA and 4-H fairs, the Illinois State Fair, and the DuQuoin State Fair. The state says the restrictions will be in place until further notice due to the avian flu outbreak in several other states. The flu has not been detected in Illinois yet.
