The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a Flood Warning for the Kaskaskia River in Vandalia. The heavy rains for this area, and to the north, have led to the flood warning. The NWS says, as of 7 this morning, the river was at 15.7 feet and is now forecast to rise above its 18 foot flood stage this afternoon and crest near 22.8 feet on Tuesday morning. And, the NWS says that additional rises are possible. Some roads do begin to take on water around the river once it goes over flood stage. The good news is, after today, there is no rain in the forecast for the next three days.
