Arline Renate. Wheeler, age 89 of St. Peter, Illinois passed away at 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, June 03, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 06, 2015 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois. Reverend Josh Frazee will be officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in St. Peter, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 05, 2015 at Pagel Funeral Homes in St. Peter, Illinois. Arline was born on March 21, 1926, the daughter of George and Dorothea (Winter) Rubin in Altenburg, Missouri. In 1934 they moved to St. Peter, Illinois where she attended the St. Peter Lutheran School. Later in life, she was instrumental in starting the Hot Lunch Program at St. Peter Lutheran School, where she worked for 13 years as a cook/manager. Her 3 children also attended St. Peter Lutheran School. She devoted most of her life in some kind of food service, including grocery stores. She was an active member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church, St. Peter Legion Auxiliary #380, and the church choir for many years. She was also a Sunday school teacher at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her two sons, David Duecker (wife Linda) of Castle Rock, Colorado and Donald Duecker (wife Janet) of Taylorville, Illinois; daughter, Barbara Collet (husband Bruce) of Rockwood, Tennessee; sister, Adela Rubin of Altamont, Illinois; sister-in-law, Violet Rubin of Decatur, Illinois; 6 grandchildren; Jason Duecker, Joe Collet, Amber Hoepker, Kris Duecker, Brandon Duecker, Diana Duecker and 8 great-grandchildren; Malaina, Seth, Emilie, Abigail, Addison, Ethan, Gavin, and Broden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothea Rubin; three brothers, Alvin Rubin, Arthur Rubin and August Rubin who died in infancy and sister-in-law, Ruth Rubin.
