The case of a Buffalo, Missouri man charged in connection to a fatal pedestrian accident on Interstate 70 in Fayette County remains set for trial later this month. 60-year old Ray L. Ryan appeared in Fayette County Court on Tuesday morning with attorney Ryan Connor for e pretrial hearing. A 402 conference has been requested with the judge in which both the state and defense present information on the case and defendant that the judge would not normally hear until trial and the judge then advises as to what the appropriate sentence should be for the case in the event the matter is resolved by plea agreement. Despite the request for the 402 conference, the scheduled trial date of December 17 does remain in place. Ryan is charged with Failure to Report an Accident involving Personal Injury or Death. Illinois State Police in June released that they had identified the vehicle that was alleged to have left the scene of the fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on the night of June 20th and led to the death of 46-year old Peter F. Peters of Elmira, Ontario, Canada. State Police reported that the follow up investigation had identified the vehicle that was allegedly involved in the accident in Ohio and Ryan was arrested at that time and was then later transferred to Fayette County. Ryan remains in the Fayette County Jail on $500,000 bond.
