Tools for School, a program that provides free basic school supplies to Fayette County students, is now accepting donations for this year’s distribution. Last year’s distribution saw about 600 young people from Brownstown, Farina, Ramsey, St. Elmo, St. Peter and Vandalia receive school supplies from the Tools for School program. Monetary donations are currently being sought from individuals, churches, businesses, clubs and others. Monetary donations are then used to purchase school supplies according to the teacher’s specific lists. Contributions may be sent to Tools for School, 1221 W. Fillmore St., Vandalia, IL 62471. Tools for School is coordinated by the Mission Committee of the Vandalia First Presbyterian Church, co-chaired by Joelyn Collins and Dian Butler. This year’s program is dedicated to the memory of Joni Springman who gave countless hours over the last several years to the program. Anyone wishing to assist when the school supplies are distributed August 8-11, please call the First Presbyterian Church office at 283-0937 to schedule times.
