The Illinois State Police say that a vehicle has been identified as the suspect vehicle that is alleged to have left the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident on Wednesday night in Fayette County. Illinois State Police reports say thru a follow-up investigation conducted by the ISP a 2016 Volvo Truck Tractor Semi-Trailer Combination was identified as the suspect vehicle that State Police says left the scene of the fatal pedestrian crash that occurred on Wednesday night at milepost 55.5 in Fayette County. State Police reports say the suspect vehicle was located in Cambridge Ohio—about 90 minutes east of Columbus, Ohio. Illinois State Police reports say with the assistance of the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Department, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Fayette County State’s Attorney’s Office, the driver—60 year old Ray L. Ryan of Buffalo, Missouri—has been arrested for Failure to Report an Accident Involving Personal Injury or Death. State Police reports of the accident stated that 46 year old Peter F. Peters of Elmira, Ontario, Canada was parked along the right shoulder on I-70 eastbound and that Peters was standing outside of his vehicle on the driver’s side near the middle of the trailer when an, at the time, unknown tractor trailer and white box semi-trailer sideswiped Peters vehicle and Peters was pinched between both units and was fatally injured.
