The Illinois State Police handled an accident that occurred early this morning in the construction zone on Interstate 70, just east of Vandalia, that led to the east bound lanes being closed for a time. Illinois State Police first reported the incident at 1:27 this morning, saying they were handling a crash in the construction zone on I-70 at mile post 67 in Fayette County–which is 1 mile west of the Brownstown exit. And, ISP says the interstate had been shut down east bound traffic at exit 63 for 20 minutes. About a half hour later, State Police alerted the east bound lanes were back open. No further information the accident has been released at this time.
