We could be looking at some heavy rains over the area for tonight and into Wednesday. We have a chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon with a high of 87. Then showers and possibly a thunderstorm for tonight with a low of 70. The National Weather Service in St. Louis says the remnants of Tropical Storm Alberto will push towards the region today into tonight. Scattered showers and thunderstorms today will become heavier and more widespread tonight as the storm passes through Illinois. The heaviest rainfall will be in southern and western Illinois, where amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible with locally higher amounts likely. While widespread flooding is not expected, some localized flood-prone areas may experience minor flooding with these rainfall amounts.
